Laura Mvula – Green Garden

Now Laura Mvula (from Birmingham, UK) is definitely one to watch, especially as she is on the BBC Sound of 2013 list. I was meant to interview her last year at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, however for some reason she had to cancel, which is a shame because I would have love to interview her and also watch her perform because I honestly do think she has an amazing talent and voice. She brings soul and gospel music to the modern day. And I absolutely love this track. I heard this today on BBC 6Music and I just had to blog about this track as it has been stuck in my head all day because it is really catchy and powerful at the same time. Her music has even been described as “gospeldelia”, a new musical genre (The Guardian). Trust me, you must listen to more of Mvula’s tracks. The video is pretty clever and good too.
