Following on from last week’s Australia Day, where I uploaded an Aussie playlist for you all – did you have a good Aussie Day? – I thought I would blog about one of the bands I put on the playlist, Total Giovanni. A quintet residing in Melbourne, Total Giovanni have a great disco-dance vibe going on, which I have not been able to get out of my head since I first heard it. Though it’s slightly different their music reminds me of a combination of that late 90s/early 21st century French House/Nu-Disco scene (think Stardust’s only ever single Music Sounds Better With You and Modjo’s Lady Hear Me Tonight) and a much MUCH kinder personality of LCD Soundsystem and Chromeo. It sounds weird, I know, but if I have to relate Total Giovanni that’s the best relation I could do. They have a superb rhythm in their songs and a great set of lyrics that instantly make you want to type your feet and dance…whether there’s a room packed with people dancing or only you on the dancefloor, this band’s music automatically makes you want to dance. I have to see them live soon! Anyone want to buy me a ticket to Australia?
Here is another one of their songs, which has a better feel to the nu-disco reference I said above. I absolutely adore this song and it’s on repeat in my head, Human Animal. Probably because it’s a cool sexy jam.
